Michael A. Hilmer

Chairman

As Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Michael brings 30 years of banking, technology, fintech and lending experience to the company. Having raised over $1 B for recent ventures that became dominant market players within 2 years of launch, Mr. Hilmer understands the governance, discipline and relationships that come together in a rapidly scaling environment. An innovative thought leader in the financial technology space, Mr. Hilmer’s open banking vision is underpinned by the fundamental belief that new regulations create more opportunity for innovation around the customer experience. The value of data collected through the experience will be returned back to the consumer for the first time in their historical banking history, and the benefits of their transactional data history will result in lower consumer banking and borrowing costs over time.

Jason Ewart

Director & EVP Capital Markets

Mr. Ewart is a corporate director who was the co-founder and the former Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Fountain Capital Corporation from 2003 until October 2017. Mr. Ewart was a market analyst with A&E Capital Funding Inc. and Bradstone Equity Partners Inc. between 1998 and 2002 and Vice-President of Quest Investment Corporation between 2002 and 2003. Mr. Ewart is a Director of Quebec base HEXO Corp., Denver based Attorneys Title Guarantee Fund Inc., Toronto based Marathon Mortgage Corp., and a Director for the non-profit Northumberland Community Futures Development Corporation, which provides financing and strategic guidance to entrepreneurs. Mr. Ewart holds an economics degree from McGill University.

Ashish Kapoor

Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Kapoor has over 18 years of experience in providing capital markets advisory and assurance services as a finance professional. After obtaining his Chartered Accountant designation at Ernst & Young, Mr. Kapoor has gained over 10 years of experience in investment banking; advising clients across various industries.

As a senior vice president at Macquarie Capital Markets Canada Ltd., Mr. Kapoor was responsible for the Canadian telecom, media, entertainment and technology investment banking and principal investing group. During his 10 years at Macquarie, Mr. Kapoor completed in excess of $3 billion in successful principal investments and advised on a further $4 billion of mergers and acquisitions for third party clients.

Mr. Kapoor was formerly the CFO of DealNet Capital Corp., a consumer finance company, Transeastern Power Trust (prior to its current name, Blockchain Power Trust), an independent power producer focused on renewable energy sources.

Jason Ewart

As EVP, Corporate Development for Hank, Mr. Ewart leads the transaction/deal team working with management to evaluate strategic opportunities and acquisitions and funding opportunities.

Shawn Carden

Senior Vice President, Compliance & Risk

As Senior Vice President of Compliance & Risk, Mr. Carden brings over 17 years of senior management experience including building compliance teams, custom back office operations, customer cash settlement operations, reconciliation teams and customer support teams. Shawn manages all regulatory and compliance execution matters and is the final approver and products and consumer solutions being released.

Previously, Mr. Carden served as Founder and President of TCCI (The Card Collaborative International). Throughout his career, Mr. Carden has held senior leadership roles at MasterCard International, NetSpend, Central Bank of Kansas City, Electronic Funds Source, LLC, MetLife, and Citi Home Mortgage.

Mr. Carden is a FinCEN roundtable participant on various settlement and reconciliation issues.

Megan Howell

Vice President & General Manager Auto, Wholesale and Digital Sales Channel

As Vice President & General Manager of Auto and Digital Sales Channel, Meg Howell brings to Hank over fifteen years of corporate marketing and automotive business development. Ms. Howell’s experience in the Automotive industry provides her with the knowledge and insight necessary to understand dealership operation models, effectively building plans to maximize sales goals and customer retention. Ms. Howell spends quite a bit of time consistently analyzing evolving trends and how clients can take advantage of those trends.

Prior to joining Hank, Ms. Howell was the National Account Director for a major Automotive Marketing firm, working directly with key national and international accounts, such Porsche Cars North America. Effectively executing strategic marketing solutions, Ms. Howell helped the firm to re-engineer and implement consumer omni-channel marketing solutions and providing strategic leadership, and, as a result, improved conversion and retention plans. She also consulted directly with BMW & MINI North America. Prior to her tenure as a National Account Director, Earlier in her career, as the Marketing Director at Premier Automotive Group, Ms. Howell maintained financial partnerships with key international accounts, such as Kia Motors, Fiat-Chrysler, and Hyundai.

Jim Bottrell

Vice President, Operations

As Vice President of Operations, Mr. Bottrell brings 20+ years of professional experience related to business process and technology solutions delivery. A business manager with extensive experience in business process workflow, solutions delivery, and team management, Jim has spent his career working with businesses of all sizes to help them achieve their greatest potential. Prior to joining Hank, Mr. Bottrell served as Vice President of Operations for WHINCORP, a food and beverage sector formulator focused on R&D, sourcing, and development of intellectual property. Previously Mr. Bottrell worked for a decade within the US healthcare sector managing large-scale teams, enterprise software solutions development, and various operational units. Mr. Bottrell has also held team and delivery management positions within the Canadian banking sector and BPO outsourcing industries.

Patrick Ferguson

Vice President, Technology

As Vice President of Technology, Mr. Ferguson brings a 20+ year career highlighted by delivering stable, scalable solutions in the telecom, financial and gaming industries. Mr. Ferguson is a veteran system architect, designer and software developer with a strong talent for identifying and implementing innovative technology solutions that align with the business objectives and corporate goals. Prior to joining Uptempo, Mr. Ferguson operated a successful consulting business developing SAAS and PAAS infrastructures for gaming, entertainment, fintech and telecom companies. Earlier in his career, Mr. Ferguson was both CTO and CIO for subsidiaries of Draper Holdings Business Trust, where we created and managed systems that acquired 100,000+ ISP customers. In 2004, Mr. Ferguson developed a VoIP platform managing international voice traffic that received a valuation of $33M just four years after inception. He’s also led the development of other telecom platforms that still route voice traffic of over 1 billion minutes a month. More recently, Mr. Ferguson has built blockchain networks on NEO, Ethereum and BitCoin.

Patrick Ferguson has also been both Cisco Network and Xamarin Mobile Developer certified.

Daniel Ducomb

Vice President, Treasury

As Vice President of Treasury, Daniel DuComb oversees Hank’s customer account processing, settlement, and reconciliation functions and works closely with the finance team on cash and revenue management. In his role, Mr. DuComb brings to bear 6+ years of experience of treasury execution, giving him a uniquely deep understanding of the company’s operations. In that time, he has led the development, implementation, and training of much of the technology, processes, and team he manages today.

Daniel sits on the board of the Hasty Pudding Institute, which is a performing arts philanthropic organization connected to the preforming arts group that Daniel was a member of at Harvard. Mr. DuComb graduated from Harvard with a BA in Economics.
